Quick Preview: Trap Game Potential
The Nittany Lions have rarely been in a situation that necessitates calling any given series a trap, but with the potential to play four games against ranked opponents next week in No. 24 West Virginia and No. 10 UCLA, Penn State is on the lookout. As for Purdue, they have been on a slide since starting the season 11-1, going 12-12 after the opening stretch.
Cook Combo
The Cook duo of shortstop Lukas at the plate and right-handed pitcher Avery have been dominating at the plate and on the mound this season. Despite not being related, the two have seen much success as Lukas leads Purdue in batting average and Avery leads the Boilermakers in earned run average. (Source: Purdue Sports)
Hagenman Makes Long-Awaited History in MLB Debut
The Nittany Lions did not have a player make their MLB Debut in over 20 years, but that all changed on Wednesday when Penn State alum and right-handed pitcher Justin Hagenman pitched for the New York Mets against the Minnesota Twins. Hagenman tossed four strikeouts in 3.1 innings in the 4-3 loss in 10 innings. (Source: Yahoo Sports | ESPN)

Bryan: Penn State back in the rut that they were in three weeks ago, or so people think. With USC being on the backburner, the Nittany Lions will be able to focus in and take two of three. Penn State 2, Purdue 1.
