• The Nittany Lions fell behind early but stayed in the fight. A comeback effort was thwarted following a 1-2-3 inning with the top of the order in the top of the ninth.

• The Nittany Lions took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, which would be their only lead of the game. The sixth and seventh innings proved to be pivotal for the Spartans.

SUNDAY: Penn State 11, Michigan State 9

• The Nittany Lions led 7-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. A fierce comeback effort by the Spartans was put down with the help of a Bryce Molinaro three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.

• W: Mason Horwat (3.0 IP, 0 SO, 1 ER, 34 pitches)

Player of the Weekend: SS Grant Norris [5-for-12, 3 HR, 4 RBI]

• Grant Norris hit 2 home runs in the Saturday loss to the Spartans. His 12 home runs so far this season ranks the highest in his collegiate career.

Pitcher of the Weekend: RHP Mason Horwat [5.2 IP, 0 SO, 3 ER]

• Horwat had two lengthy performances out of the bullpen, allowing only 3 earned runs through 5 2/3 innings of work. After making a quality start earlier on, Horwat has been a good long reliever so far this season.
