Recaps
FRIDAY: Penn State 7, Georgetown 2
The Nittany Lions got the offense going late in the game, as they scored 5 of their 7 runs from the 6th to the 9th inning (0 in the 8th). Graduate students JT Marr, Adam Cecere, and Grant Norris all had 2 RBIs in the win.
W: Travis Luensmann (7.0 IP, 9 SO, 2 ER, 121 pitches)
SUNDAY: Navy 9, Penn State 1
The Nittany Lions let up 6 runs in the 4th inning that saw two pitching changes, including one due to injury after RHP David Lee got hit by a line-drive shot from 3B Logan Keller. They avoided a shutout after a Matt Maloney RBI double in the top of the 9th inning.
L: Jaden Henline (3.2 IP, 2 SO, 1 ER, 88 pitches)
Player of the Weekend: RF Adam Cecere [4-for-9, 2 RBI]
Cecere was the most consistent player throughout the 2-game weekend against Georgetown and Navy. He was one of two players on Sunday with multiple hits, and he had an extra-base hit in the form of an RBI ground-rule double in the top of the 6th inning on Friday.
Pitcher of the Weekend: RHP Travis Luensmann [7 IP, 9 SO, 2 ER, 1 W]
Luensmann enjoyed a season-high for strikeouts in a big win over Georgetown on Friday. Despite walking 5 batters and allowing 2 earned runs, this performance helped dispel rumors that he had major struggles with pitching on the road.
