Quick Preview: Tale of Two Starts

After high preseason expectations, Penn State heads to Lubbock after its worst 10-game start to a season in the Mike Gambino era.

Conversely, Texas Tech is fresh off of a series win over CSU Bakersfield and looks to turn things around ahead of Big 12 play under head coach Tim Tadlock.

Balk-Off, Anderson Heroics Secure First Midweek Win of 2026

Michael Anderson hit two long home runs and drove in seven runs total in Penn State’s 12-2 win over St. John’s in seven innings.

As cold and cloudy as the conditions were, it was only fitting that the game ended on a bases-loaded balk to bring home Bryce Molinaro and walk it off.

Seven Alumni Headed to Spring Breakout

Texas Tech’s former players have no shortage of opportunities to make an impact this Spring Training as seven of them will represent five MLB teams in this year’s Spring Breakout on March 19–22.

The players include Andrew Morris (Twins), Chase Hampton (Yankees), Brandon Birdsell (Cubs), Kevin Bazzell (Nationals), Cade McGee (Cardinals), Mac Heuer and Jack Cebert (both Yankees).

Quick Picks & Analysis

Bryan: Penn State has struggled to find its stride early on but has yet to lose all three games in a weekend this year. This Red Raider team is just too strong, though, and a sweep seems likely. Texas Tech 3, Penn State 0.
