2025 Penn State Baseball Season Highlight Reel

Most fans remember Nate Voss’s solo home run to propel the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten semifinals. Some may remember the countless records being broken in Happy Valley this year. Year 2 of the Mike Gambino era served as a solid follow-up to the 2024 Big Ten Championship run. Below, you’ll find some of the biggest highlights of this season that saw the Nittany Lions notch their second-highest single-season win total in program history:

LOOSLI SHUTS THE DOOR IN WIN OVER TRIBE

The final game of the third weekend of the 2025 campaign provided some rather unnecessary fireworks late as Penn State defeated William & Mary by a score of 7 to 6. In the closest game of the year up to that point, it was right-handed pitcher Dimond Loosli who made his presence known as he entered the game in the bottom of the 8th inning. After getting out of a bases-loaded jam with a double play, Loosli went on to only allow one hit in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Orange Coast College transfer shut the door and recorded the save with an inning-ending fielders’ choice.

PENN STATE NOTCHES BIG TEN OPENING SERIES WIN

For the first time since 2014, the Nittany Lions won their Big Ten opener series by taking Game 3 against Indiana at home. In the harsh cold, the two teams split the doubleheader on Friday. After going down early in the series finale, Penn State stayed the course and scored all 10 of their runs from the 5th to the 8th inning.

VOSS HITS CLUTCH RBI DOUBLE TO BEAT GOLDEN GOPHERS

The Nittany Lions were down to their final strike down 2 to 1 in the top of the 9th inning against Minnesota on a Saturday in early April. With bases loaded in the inning, it was up to catcher Nate Voss to keep the game alive. Voss cleared the bases with a double to left field, putting Penn State up two runs and contributing to their 5 to 2 win to clinch the series.

NITTANY LIONS UPSET MOUNTAINEERS BEHIND RECORD CROWD

The No. 17 West Virginia Mountaineers’ offense was stymied as Penn State saw an all-time performance from its bullpen in a 3 to 2 win on April 22. It was the Nittany Lions’ first win over a D1Baseball Top 25 opponent since May 19, 2023 against the No. 20 Maryland Terrapins. The atmosphere was incredible in the win over the Mountaineers, with 6,106 fans setting a Medlar Field at Lubrano Park attendance record.

PORTER KEYS PENN STATE’S BIG TEN TOURNAMENT-CLINCHING WIN

Right fielder Jack Porter was the hero the Nittany Lions didn’t know they needed in the 11 to 7 victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on May 10. The penultimate conference game of the season for Penn State saw Porter mash two home runs, which was his first multi-homer game as a Nittany Lion. It would unfortunately be his last game of the season, however, as he was scratched in the conference finale the next day and would not return.
